Who’d a thunk it?

We all know Cap’n Jack gets around, that’s no mystery. And I’m sure we all thought that he might have kidlets running aorund out there somewhere. But did we expect grandpa?

Stay tuned as Children of the Earth continues and we learn more and more secrets about Jack and the gang.

Synopsis:

This episode starts off rather strangely with a blowfish driving a convertible and Torchwood in hot pursuit. We learn that Jack has “disappeared” which is how we left off at the end of last season when he went off with the Doctor.

The fish is subdued with the return of Captain Jack!

The crew notice some rift activity and Captain John Hard comes into the picture. We shortly find out that Captain Hard doesn’t take anything from anyone and apparently has a sense of humour (I like him already).

As I suspected, Catpains Jack and Hard know each other, very well. And they soon degenerate into a fight. A bar busting, kock down, drag out fight.

Two words – murder rehab?

We find out that captain Hard works for the Time Agency which was shut down and Jack doesn’t want him in his territory. Hard tells the team there is a radiation cluster bomb in some seperate canisters that’s come through the rift and the team now has a purpose.

Captains John and Hard just can’t stop with the sexual putdowns and inneundo, it’s very funny.

We also find out that Reese asked Gwen to marry him while Jack was away, lets see how that works out in the future, I predict badly.

The team splits up in pairs to find the canisters and Gwen and Captain Hard find the canister and Gwen is incapacitated by Hard and he steals the canister and leaves Gwen to die.

John meets up with Tosh and Owen just as they find a canister as well. After a scuffle the scene leaves with Owen being shot by Captain Hard!

Hard now shows up on the scene where Ianto and Jack have split up to make their search faster. Ianto is run off by Hard, then Jack and Hard have some words and Hard asks Jack to leave with him.

Jack isn’t having any part of leaving and Hard pushes him off the top of an Office building. (little does he know that won’t work!) We do see that Hard still has some feeling for Jack, but he’s motivated by greed.

Ianto is on the search for Gwen, Tosh and Owen and finds Tosh and Owen. Owen has been shot in what looks like the leg. Now the three are off in the search for Gwen and they find her with little time left.

We find Hard in Torchwood after stealing Jacks “key” and he is shortly interrupted by the crew and is very surprised to see Jack is alive.

We find out that it’s not really a cluster bomb, but something Hard was searching for called an Arcadian Diamond. Hard activates the device which is a hologram and is told that there is no diamond. Suddenly the device transforms itself and attaches itself to Hard. The hologram says that the device will attach itself to the DNA whoever killed her and it’s going to go off in 10 minutes!

Suddenly Gwen hardcuffs herself to Hard and Gwen suggests they go into the rift to let the device explode as it’s extremely powerful so it doesn’t damage anything on Earth.

The race is now on to find where the rift is going to open next. Tosh checks the computer for the next opening. Jack and Owen go running off to the fridge to find blood samples for some reason, but they have a plan.

Now Gwen, Ianto, Tosh and Hard are off to find the rift. They find it and before they go into it Jack and Owen show up. Jack injects Hard with the blood from the fridge and it ends up confusing the bomb because of the multiple DNA samples. The bomb falls off but it’s still active as Jack throws it into the rift.

Once the bomb explodes in the rift time changes and the crew and Hard are sent back to the moment just before Hard came through the rift to earth.

Hard kisses Jack goodbye and says he found (what sounds like) Gray before he’s gone. Jack is stunned and when asked about it Jack says it’s nothing.

Upcoming episodes show Hard making a comeback and Martha Jones making an appearance.

As I previously reported I would write down everything we learned about Jack on the last few Dr Who episodes, and I will still do that.

But this is breaking news – and my jaw dropped down to the floor and I’m still waiting to pick it up!

Jack asks the doctor about aging and not dying (a vanity thing he says), and the Doctor says he doesn’t know. Then Jack tells us a story about when he was a child he was a poster boy in the Bouchaine peninsula(sp?). He says he was nicknamed “the face of Bo”.

The doctor is incredulous, as is Martha Jones. At that point Jack runs off to get back to his life in Torchwood.

WOW, that one nearly blew my mind. I’ll post again soon about all we learned about Jack in the final three episodes of season three of Dr Who.

I won’t give any spoilers, but let me just say that I”ll be sitting on the edge of my seat (where ever I am) for the next week waiting for the next episode.

I’ll watch that Doctor Who episode again and comment on all the things we learned about Jack and his past.

And just who kisses Jack anyways?

Theories

1) Is Jack is a timelord? – The face of Bo said the Doctor was not alone.

2) Is Jack on crack? Maybe he’s too hopped up to feel pain and his heart only slows down lots and lots (ok not likely, but Jack on crack rhymed and it entertained me for a second)

3) Jack was inhabited by some alien who is preserving him until it can get back to it’s own world/planet/time

I have my own theory about the Doctor, and that he’s not alone because the Master is out there waiting for him to pay him back. Lets face it, you can only kill all the Daleks in the universe so many times and the Doctor needs an arch enemy.
